Terms & Conditions
These terms apply to private online Portuguese lessons purchased from Denise M. Castro, an independent service provider established in Madeira, Portugal. Mandatory consumer rights under Portuguese and EU law are not excluded or limited by these terms.
1. Services
Lessons are delivered online, normally through Google Meet, and are personalised to the learner. Current offers include a 60-minute Trial Lesson, FastTrack 45 and Deep Dive 90 packs. The description and price shown on the website and Stripe checkout at the time of purchase form part of the contract.
2. Booking and payment
Payment is processed securely by Stripe through external payment links. Pack lessons can be booked from 48 hours after purchase, subject to calendar availability. After confirmed payment, the learner receives access to the booking process. Single FastTrack or Deep Dive sessions are not sold automatically online; please contact Denise first.
3. Starting within the statutory withdrawal period
Consumers generally have 14 days from the conclusion of a distance service contract to exercise the statutory right of withdrawal. If you choose a lesson date that falls within those 14 days, you expressly request that performance begin before the withdrawal period ends. If you later validly withdraw after performance has begun at your request, an amount proportionate to the service already provided may be payable, as permitted by applicable law.
4. Rescheduling and attendance
Please request cancellation or rescheduling at least 4 hours before the scheduled lesson. You may use the calendar rescheduling option when available, but direct contact by WhatsApp is preferred. Requests made with less than 4 hours' notice are handled case by case and rescheduling is not guaranteed. If Denise needs to change a lesson, an alternative time will be offered.
5. Learning materials
Slides, worksheets, recordings, exercises and other materials supplied for lessons are for the learner's personal educational use unless otherwise stated. They may not be commercially redistributed, resold or published without permission. Third-party materials remain subject to their respective rights and terms.
6. Invoicing
A Stripe payment confirmation is a payment receipt and is not the Portuguese tax invoice/receipt issued by the service provider. The appropriate Portuguese tax document is issued separately. Please provide the required billing details during payment where available, or contact denisecastro@denisemcastro.com.

8. Consumer complaints and disputes
Consumers may use the official Livro de Reclamações Eletrónico, which also provides options to submit compliments and suggestions. Information about consumer dispute resolution in Madeira is available from the Centro de Arbitragem de Conflitos de Consumo da Região Autónoma da Madeira (CACC RAM). The applicability of a specific ADR procedure depends on the legal circumstances of the dispute and any applicable binding rules.
9. Applicable law
These terms are governed by Portuguese law, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections that may apply to a consumer in another jurisdiction.
